10.5 - The first impression

Just finished installing OSX 10.5 to my MacBook Pro and I must say that I am impressed. I was considering to do a clean format-n-install in order to defragment the HD at the same time, but could not resist the temptation of just doing a quick regular upgrade. It completed in couple of hours and went super-smoothly. TheOS just feels a lot faster - even while it is still creating Spotlight index - and even without clean install.

Pros and cons in first 15 minutes of use?

  • Pros: Huge improvement in overall responsiveness, usable Mail.app, tabs in Terminal, Spaces, ...
  • Cons: Transparent menubar and "3D" dock - who needs these?
