From OLPC to a sub-notebook
2007/11/25 05:09I have been a long-time fan of the OLPC project. The project team has been doing marvelous job on both hardware and software design and the attention to detail is unbelievable. Just look at the developers wiki and trac to see what I mean.
Besides being wonderful laptop for kids, OLPC specification would allow creation of robust Linux based laptop for adults also. It could be a tiny sub-notebook for writing, emails and web-surfing and would have great battery life. Just imagine OLPC hardware with Apple designed aluminum case, proper keyboard and your favorite Linux distro. Maybe specs should be extended a bit by throwing in 1G RAM and 16G flash instead of the current 256M/1G, but otherwise specs are already perfect.
Or maybe we should also throw in GSM-module to build all-in-one device that could rival Nokia E90...
